Creative Fatigue in Paid Social: What Marketers Should Watch
A creative can perform well at launch and become less effective later.
What is creative fatigue?
Creative fatigue generally refers to declining effectiveness as an audience sees the same or similar advertising repeatedly.
Possible signals include rising frequency, declining CTR, increasing CPA, or declining conversion rate. No single metric proves fatigue.
Check the context
Performance can also change because of seasonality, competition, offer changes, landing-page problems, tracking issues, or audience changes.
Look at frequency
Higher frequency can be normal for retargeting. The important question is whether increased exposure is associated with declining performance.
Refresh the concept
Changing a background color may not be enough. Consider changing the hook, story, angle, problem, demonstration, or format.
Conclusion
Creative fatigue is a signal to investigate, not an automatic reason to pause an advertisement.
